Task #2: FOR THE ARTISTS

  • Divide a piece of paper into quadrants (4 sections). In each section you should showcase one part of the culture of the First Nations people in the St. Croix area that you have learned about. You get to pick which 4 parts of their culture you will be showcasing. Culture is what makes a group of people unique. Parts of culture are: food, housing, clothing, trade, language, traditions, and so on. You must use a different way to present these parts of First Nations culture in each of the sections. You can choose to write a poem or song, draw a picture, write a short story, create a collage, make a list, create a cheer, write a letter, and so on, but you can only use one method for each section. In other words if you create a song about one part of First Nations culture, you cannot do a song about another part. I have given you a few examples of parts of cultures and ways to present them in each section, but I’m sure you can think of many more. This is your chance to be creative.
    • Start by making a draft copy on a regular size piece of paper and when you are ready for the final copy ask the teacher for a large piece of paper. Make them neat and colourful. We will be posting these around the classroom.
